MAN OF THE PEOPLE: The Only-Recently Discovered Secret Political Recordings of Acting Mayor Francis “Woody” Woodson is a weekly audio web series comprised of the “found” tapes of a small-town mayor, furtively audiotaping his every political move (for future biographers, of course).

Described as “The Office meets The Nixon Tapes,” this episodic internet comedy — distributed Summer/Fall ‘08 via free audio podcast — echoes 2008’s electoral season, following our bumbling hero, Woody Woodson, as he drags the tiny hamlet of Daltonville into and out of a series of political minefields along his quixotic quest for re-election (and, of course, his place in history).

MAN OF THE PEOPLE is created by award-winning theatre and comedy writer Jeremy Desmon, and new episodes are released every Tuesday through Election Day (November 4, 2008). They can be heard for free via www.woody4mayor.com, or listeners can easily subscribe via popular download sites such as iTunes.

Written by a motley crew of theatre scribes, comedic novelists and stand-up comedians, the mini-tropolis of Daltonville (pop. 1799) is brought to life each week by a ridiculously talented array of voice talents from television and Broadway. Each 12-to-15 minute episode is written just a few short weeks before it airs, so listeners shouldn’t be surprised to hear echoes of the predictably unpredictable goings-on of the 2008 national election. Because, of course:

All Politics is Local.
